In the year 1950 Late AL- Hajj Sk. Abdul Khalique had started a small transport business by the name M/S. Grand Azad Hind Transport Company with 2 trailers, which had flourished in to a big transport company catering to Calcutta & Haldia Ports with over 100 trailers with in a very short time.
His son Sk. Hashmat joined his father’s business in the year 1966 and introduced handling activities by inducting Cranes and later Reach Stackers to the company along with the existing transport business. He then went on to pioneer and specialize in coal handling initially with cranes and thereafter inducted Front End Loaders to handle Coal for all the major steel plants and ports across India. The group under his leadership ventured in to handling of steel for all the major steel plants and containers in all the major ports across the country and spread to virtually all corners of developing India and became one of the largest Logistics & Material Handling companies in the country. His two sons namely Tarique Hashmat and Sarfaraz Hashmat joined him and the family business in the year 1994 and now they too like their father and grandfather are venturing in to mega size projects, like handling and setup of Power Plants with foreign companies, Oil Exploration, Imports of heavy equipments from abroad, setting up CFS & ICD’s, along with venturing in to housing projects of large proportions. |
